Buddy

by Sandi Brown

Buddy wasn't with us long,
To us he grew dear.
Buddy's life on earth is gone.
He cannot tarry here.

Buddy left us just last night,
The Lord has called him home.
Buddy didn't want to leave,
But his work here was done.

Buddy didn't suffer much
He left, instead, real quick,
Buddy wasn't in great pain,
He wasn't even sick.

Someday we will meet again
Even now, He's near.
No one can tell as yet just when,
But we'll see him, never fear.

[Buddy was Orville Thomas Brown II, the infant son of Sandy's brother Bill, who died in 1957 of crib death at the age of one month. At the time of his death Sandi was 15.]
