About the Author

by Ruth Brown

Raised in a small farming community in central Ohio, Ruth M. Brown was the youngest of six children born to Tom and Dollie Brown. Although there were many others that lived in the house at different times, Ruth spent a lot of time alone, and developed poetry as a means of expressing herself. As is obvious from the title of this book, the "poetry" gene runs heavy in the family.

Mostlly happy and carefree as a child, a tragedy at age fourteen devastated Ruth, and she withdrew emotionally into poetry. Always gregarious on the surface, she pulled all of her unhappy feelings inward, and let only the good and happy things show, burying deeper and deeper the hurts and tribulations that were dealt her.

As a young adult, Ruth was married numerous times, bore two children, and has been instrumental in raising of many others. As a mature adult, and forever adaptable, she has developed the philosophy that she must help where she can, and commiserate where she can do nothing else.
